Why Diet Soda is Bad For You

Soda is the equivalent to eating candy. I say this because soda is full of sugar. If you think Diet Soda is better than regular soda then you should think again. Aspartame is a sugar substitute and is related to a lot of illnesses. These illnesses include seizures, breathing problems, memory loss, nausea, headaches and even more. The risks of developing brain tumors, Parkinson's, diabetes, and epilepsy are increased just by drinking Diet Soda. It has also been confirmed that people who consume a lot of these sugar substitutes can develop cancer and thyroid gland problems. These are the exact same reasons why Aspartame is banned by the European Food Safety Authority and was originally banned by the FDA.Another main reason soda is bad for you is because of the extremely high acidity. Soda has a pH level of around 3.4; meaning it's strong enough to dissolve your teeth and bones. This acid is normal considering the high mineral contents which result in kidney stones and is the leading cause of tooth decay. Since people are usually thirsty when they drink soda, they don't have much saliva to break down the acidity. This in return ruins your teeth over time.The caffeine is addictive and negatively affects the body's endurance. It also takes away the ability to handle stress. There is a proven allergenic link between the hyperactive behavior in children and the artificial food colorings and preservatives in soda. The high acidity is a major issue in soda but there is still a whole bigger picture.
